Simon Norfolk is easily the most controversial war photographer I know of. He’s not controversial for going behind enemy lines or being extra-specially embedded with the Marines in Falluja or some-such. His pictures are about war more so than many other war photogs, but they are of anything but but firing shots, hiding in trenches or big macho helis shooting the shit out of the bad guys.
His pictures are of what war does. To people, landscapes, societies. The caption for the above image is:
